Top Zombie Movies of All Time

Listing some of the best zombie films of all time here. You'll find the variety of the zombie movies from back in time to the modern flicks. I am going to update the list If I found some worthy movies to list.

There are plenty of movies to list but I am skipping funny zombie flicks as there are too many of those and doesn't do justice for this list, in my opinion. Feel free to let me know about your favorite zombie flick.

REC

Spanish Zombie Horror movie. It was later adapted by Hollywood under the title "quarantine" and "quarantine : terminal". The reason I like REC is because story starts slowly introducing every character and then suddenly puts you into the middle of zombie outbreak. It doesn't start with scary zombie environment but It does end with some chills, leaving you expecting more. It is under found footage horror category, still best zombie movie you can find out there.

Dead Snow

Starts with typical plot of people coming at snow cabin and then zombie outbreak. The catch here is that these are zombie nazis so expect some fun there. It was rated as one of the best zombie flicks by many reviewers out there. Definitely worth watching.

Osombie

Talibani zombies. Cheesy on most points but does have a good plot and also the direction is cool. The effects and the overall setup of the talibani zombies is done perfectly. If you're fan of zombie flicks then give this flick a shot.

28 Days Later

Not technically zombie movie but it is worth mentioning here. It has some good moments of outbreak and also shows you a much different variation of the zombie flick. I have not much negative about this review but it is definitely good and worth listing here.

Dawn of The Dead

This movie is mix of humor, action, horror and sacrifice. You'll find some good zombiecalypse stuff in this movie. Plot and the direction is very good and in short, it is one of my favorite zombie movie.

Planet Terror

Typical military experiment failure leading to zombie outbreak plot. However, some of the stuff is funny and have some good slasher stuff in it. It's a nice movie overall and worth watching at-least once If you're zombie fan.

Dead Girl

Story of two boys finding a girl imprisoned in the abandoned asylum. It's interesting zombie movie. Something quite different from most of the zombie plots where outbreak and the slashing takes most of the time in the life.

Shaun of The Dead

It has mix of humor and zombie slashing. It is not that scary and does have some odd funny bits here and there. I don't call it cheesy zombie flick but It is funny. Nothing negative to point out though as the movie entertains you very well.

Land of The Dead

Zombie with some drama is what you're going to see in this movie from the start. It's not your typical slash n run type zombie movie. It does have some drama from zombie POV too. Overall It's a good zombie flick worth watching at-least once.

Versus

Japanese zombie horror flick. Expect lots of slasher stuff and acting is somewhat B grade, however the movie plot is good and they did it in much better way compared to most of the failed zombie horror movies. If you like Japanese takes on most of the Hollywood concept then I guess you'll like this movie.

Night Of The Living Dead

There are two versions of this movie. First one being the original and is quite old yet a good zombie flick. A second one on the other hand is remake of the first movie and is worth watching. Arguably the best chilling zombie flick of all time.

I Walked With A Zombie

Old Zombie Flick but worth watching at-least once. I have known some of the fans of this movie even though it is old black and white movie. It does have a plot which is worth for remake in this decade.

House at the End of the Street Review

Jenifer Lawrence and thriller movie, quite a good combination for movie. Don't get your hopes too high on this because movie doesn't come up-to much of expectations. No matter whether you're Jenifer Lawrence fan or not, this story is not going to be making you stick to chair for an hour.

I am sure this type of plot is already tackled before in many other psychological thriller movies. It is quite odd that we come across many such similar stories on regular basis.

What to Like about the Movie-

Slow pace, not dragged at all.
Good acting.
Good ending to the story.

What not to Like about the Movie-

Reused Plot.
Nothing exciting
Not much of character development.

I don't mind slow paced movies but If there is no character development and nothing to get excited then I wonder what is the point of calling it thrilling.

You can check out the DVD of House at the End of the Street. Mind you, It's not even collection worthy for me. So watch it once If you are Jenifer Lawrence fan.

John Dies at The End Review

John dies at the end was one of the movie that I didn't intend to watch but was forced to watch any way. I spent some time watching this movie and thought why the money was spent on it. I don't know if there are fans of this movie or not but I personally found this movie useless.

Nothing interesting. It's like bunch of weed growers or marijuana smokers are making some spiritual movie with alien invasion plot dumped in it.

What to like -

Random funny stuff.

What not to like -

Acting.
story.
characters.
overall movie.

Oh and by the way, there isn't much John in this movie but you're going to see most of the Dave in it.

I didn't find anything good at all about the movie. It just wasted my time. It's not even worth 1 star.

Lost Tapes Discovery Channel Season Review

I never knew Discovery Channel started found footage series until I got my hands on Lost tapes DVD. Don't expect it to be Blair witch project or anything like that. They have this burden of keeping fantasy as it is and let people speculate on it. They just collected random stories of myths and made a series out of it. You're going to see episode of every popular mythic creature in one of the seasons DVD.

I just finished the first season of this DVD. After looking at it I realized why they are into this sort of stuff leaving the educational stuff aside. I didn't like such type of series at first because they used to be educational and now they are trying to make money off the myths.

I decided to check their season anyway and found some good episodes to watch eating pop corn. Don't expect much from the series and don't put much weight into their information just because they are discovery channel.

Death Worm

What to Like -

Plot of some episodes.
CGI and technical stuff.
Acting.

What not to like -

Some episodes are total waste of time Chupacabra being one of them.
Nothing scary or thrill in most of the parts.

If you're found footage genre fan then this series can entertain you with some good mythic creatures stories. I would suggest renting Lost Tapes DVD or getting a collection for yourself, if you're fan of these type of videos.

Bigfoot: Lost Coast Tapes Review

Yet another found footage movie but this time they have bigfoot aka sasquatch as theme. Not many good bigfoot found footage movies are out there. Most of the bigfoot movies are either B grade movies or maybe some random documentaries. This movie tackles a different take on the bigfoot genre.

Plot : It starts with bunch of low budget filming crew trying to interview a hilbily who lives nearby a sasquatch nest. Film crew is not organized for their plans of shoot and there are some clashes in between them. Still they manage to hold together and record series of bigfoot sightings and trying to make sense what is going on around them.

At first you feel like you're actually watching a conspiracy theory movies where bigfoots are portrayed as dimensional traveler beings. The some events happen with the crew that changes the things entirely.

I am not going to spoil much of the story now. You can watch on your own and see if you like it.

What about negative reviews?

People who only appreciated blair witch project are going to criticize every other found footage movie in future. So this movie was also criticized as well for not holding much for the thril. It is upto you to decide how much it offered you.

What to like about the movie-

Twisted endings.
Multiple theories within the entire movie.
Atmosphere in woods.

What not to like -

Confusing parts with no development on them.
A bit dragged on film crew conversation part.

I can't say it is collectible worthy movie but I am planning to keep a DVD of Bigfoot: Lost Coast Tapes, just because it has interesting take on bigfoot movie. That said, I think It is definitely worth a watch If you are into found footage movies.

Evidence 2012 Found Footage Film

Evidence is one of the concept mashup found footage movies where you get to see multiple thriller concepts. Evidence has three different horror and thriller concepts mashed up and presented to you. It does have some positive reviews from the fans but It didn't made me much exciting.

Plot : It starts with group of campers getting annoyed with things around them late at night. Then the story moves completely into different level.

I don't want to spoil things but you're going to be shocked and annoyed at the same time how the speed changes. At first story moves very slowly and then you think it is typical horror in the woods. Then things starts to make sense and at the end, It takes another tangent.

So there are plenty of things that are going on in the movie. It would be really hard to connect things as they are so poorly thrown at the viewer.

What to Like about Movie -

Creature. It is not completely revealed till the end.
Dark atmosphere. Most of the movie runs in the night and you miss many details.

What not to like about movie-

Too fast. Even for those who like fast paced movies.
Mash-up of concepts and thrill will turn off many viewers.

I am not going to recommend this movie for DVD collection. It is not even worth single watch because It's not good as per my taste. However, those who like found footage genre should check it out, who knows you may like it?

V/H/S Movie

VHS film falls into found-footage movie genre. It is mix of horror and thriller story smashup.

Intro: Gang of muggers trying to vandalize one property after another get one gig of taking a VHS tape out of abandoned old house. To their surprise they found old man in coma or sleep for hours. Each person starts to look for the tape. One of them starts to play some tapes from nearby collection. This is where the smashup of VHS stories starts.

There are total five stories, each with unique twist into it. Each story will make you think. At the end, you will find how the entire plot of muggers ends. So that's total six stories for you.

What to Like about Movie -

Stories. 3 out of 5 stories are good. I am not going to name them but let you decide.
Acting.
Atmosphere.

What not to Like about Movie

2 bad stories.
Poor night vision footage.

It is definitely in my list of "watch during Halloween" type of movies. I personally think that these stories are worth replay value. I suggest getting DVD of VHS movie from Amazon If you like found footage horror movies.

Hensel & Gretel - Heljelgwa geuretel 2007 (Korean Film)

Hensel & Gretel also known as Heljelgwa geuretel is a korean thriller movie. It is not scary or slasher flick. It has a perfect balance of mystery, sadness and happy ending. If you like psychological thriller movies then you're going to love Heljelgwa geuretel.

What to Like about this Movie -

Overall arrangement of the Story.
Ending of the Movie.
Music.
Character Development.

What Not to Like about this Movie -

Slightly Slow paced. ( Nothing dragged however. )
Confusing at some points. (It could be because of foreign language Issues).

There's a vibe of sadness that flows through this entire movie. If you ever lived your life in loneliness then you're going to feel very emotional on some parts of the movie. Ending doesn't turn out to be happy but left on viewers that Happiness is a choice.

It is one of the best psychological thriller mystery movie from Korea. Atleast that's how I found it to be. I personally found this movie DVD Collectible. I rented it at first and then decided to get a copy. I can't say for everyone but I liked this movie and will surely recommend this to anyone who likes psychological thriller.

Another Kind Movie Review

It's not found footage movie. It's not like Blair witch project copy either. Period.

Another Kind starts with a group of hikers looking for some change in their lives. Story develops from their camping journey and slowly things starts to make sense to viewers. For typical slasher and found footage movie fan, this movie is very slow. You'll feel like you are watching some atmospheric horror movie in 90s. If you like such slow paced creepy movies then it is a treat.

It's not like X-files type movie. It's not alien abduction either. So set your expectations wisely.

What to Like about this movie -

Atmosphere. Snow, Woods and Darkness.
Music.

What not to like -

Pace of the movie. A bit dragged in some points.
Less details on aliens part.

It's definitely one of those horror flicks with one time play value. I don't think it's worth DVD purchase. You can consider watching it on Netflix or Amazon.
